Vibratory Tumbler Media

Midvale Industries offers a broad line of vibratory tumbler media for mass finishing processes. Media and Compound are both critical for achieving a consistent and precise finish. Tumbling media is manufactured in multiple types of material including ceramic, stainless steel, plastic, urethane, and corn cob. Tumbling media is available in various sizes and shapes including angle cut cylinders, stars, cones, triangles, wedges, pyramids, and specialty shapes upon request. We offer both wet and dry finishing media.

Common vibratory finishing applications include burnishing, polishing, inhibiting, deburring, deflashing and more.

Ceramic Tumbling Media

Ceramic vibratory media is a general all-purpose vibratory tumbling media; available in a wide variety of sizes, cutting actions, compositions, and shapes

Ceramic media can polish, deburr, descale, burnish, radius, and provide general overall surface improvement

Applications for Ceramic Vibratory
Mass finishing, deburring, deflashing, polishing, burnishing, fast metal removal, surface improvement, radiusing, and cosmetic finishing

Standard Shapes Available – Contact our team for special sizing

Stainless Steel Tumbling Media

Steel vibratory media is known for its wear resistance, and in most instances lasts much longer than ceramic, plastic, and bio-based vibratory media

It performs a variety of finishing operations, often in one step, without specialized or dedicated equipment, reducing processing times

Applications for Steel Vibratory Media
Mass finishing, deburring, deflashing, polishing, burnishing, fast metal removal, surface improvement, and cosmetic finishing

Traditional Industries for Steel Vibratory Media
-Automotive (transmission parts, engine cylinder, oil pump body, pistons)
-Consumer Goods (bicycle frames, silverware, jewelry, light bulb base)
-Industrial (pistons, bearings, washers)

Plastic Tumbling Media

Plastic vibratory media is a lightweight media that reduces the chance of damaging sensitive parts with delicate surfaces.

It is typically longer lasting than ceramic media.

Plastic media comes in a variety of formulations (some are designed for use in high energy finishers or centrifugal barrels) to achieve finishes ranging from a clean and reflective finish to a smooth matte finish.

Applications for Plastic Vibratory Media
Mass finishing, deburring, deflashing, polishing, burnishing, fast metal removal, surface improvement, buffing, surface removal, and cosmetic finishing

Urethane Dry Finishing Media

Eliminate the need for water or compound in your vibratory finishing process with urethane dry finishing media. Dry finishing media eliminates the need for effluent and effluent treatment as well as the costs associated with them.

Urethane dry media can be ran in all styles of equipment such as vibratory, centrifugal disc and centrifugal barrels. This media will not glaze as with conventional media and stays active throughout its lifespan.

Corn Cob Media

Corn Cob and Walnut Shells are an environmentally way to burnish, deburr, deflash, and polish small parts

Corn Cobs can also be used in drying equipment and as an absorbent for grease and oil

They Preserve sensitive surfaces and are ideal for plastics and softer metals

Traditional Industries for Bio-Based Vibratory Media
-Ammunition (polishing and cleaning brass casings)
-Automotive (surface improvement, deburring, parts cleaning, and drying)
-Industrial (drying, degreasing, and oil absorption)
