What is soda blasting?
Soda blasting is the use of baking soda in an abrasive blasting environment. Baking soda based abrasives are highly effective for the cleaning and removal of tough coatings and contaminants without disturbing the base material. Soda blast media is non-toxic and non-hazardhous, reducing health and safety concerns in blasting operations. Baking soda abrasive formulations are designed specifically for blasting applications. Finding the best formulation is am important first step in soda blasting.
Soda Blasting Cabinet
The Aerolyte Bicarbonator Pressure Blast Cabinet is designed specifically for use with sodium bicarbonate media for degreasing, cleaning, and paint stripping. Soda media is non-toxic, nonhazardous, and soft, making it ideal for delicate substrates; and it is water-soluble simplifying the process of residual media removal and disposal.
The Bicarbonator pressure blast cabinet, model PSB 2342-600, is designed for use with sodium bicarbonate media for cleaning and paint stripping. Soda media is soft, making it ideal for cleaning without altering or etching delicate surfaces. Soda media is water-soluble, non-toxic, and non-hazardous, simplifying its removal and disposal. Parts with internal cavities are easily rinsed clean. This model is for intermittent blasting for up to two hours per day.
Portable Soda Blaster
Soda Blast equipment has unique features that keep the baking soda from clogging up in the pot or cabinet. The equipment also has special valving. Soda blasting works well with the removal of paint, dirt, grime or coatings off of sensitive surfaces such as fiberglass, wood, brick, aluminum, and copper. Soda blasting removes small amounts of surface material that is blasted; thereby reducing damage to the original dimensions of the part or piece.
